Outraged Wheel of Fortune fans shared their frustration about a contestant who lost more than $7,000 after making a major mistake.

On April 30, contestant Kimberly Wright from Apopka, Florida was so close to winning $7,250, but made an embarrassing mistake that sent fans spiraling.

The contestant made it all the way to the express round, where the remaining letters on the board read 'D U _ _ – _ _ L L E D PLATYPUS.'

The audience began cheering, as the answer, which was 'duck-billed platypus,' was obvious to them.

But Wright decided to pic the letter 'F' as she thought the answer was 'duck-filled platypus.' The audience groaned, knowing she had made the wrong choice.

Wright was incorrect, so rival Marie Kioski completed the puzzle during her turn to win $7,250. She also won a pass to the Puerto Rican Margaritaville Vacation Club Rio Mar.

Wheel of Fortune were baffled by Wright's wrong answer, and made their opinions known on social media.

'Oh my, that was painful. F??' one fan on X, wrote. 'She thought the platypus was filled? with what exactly? #WheelOfFortune'

'Where did this lady think an F was going to go in this puzzle?' chimed another.

'I have never been more enraged watching wheel of fortune,' said a third.

'A Duck-Filled Platypus!?' wrote another fan in disbelief.

'Oh, I hope Red isn't on social media. She gonna get blasted for missing that puzzle,' a viewer commented.

The episode, which aired nearly a month after the Wheel of Fortune veteran Pat Sajak taped his final show, was hosted by Sajak.

Sajak's last show, which he hosted for more than 40 years, will air on Friday, June 7, according to Deadline. On April 5th, the farewell episode was recorded.

The legendary host confirmed he would be retiring from the show in June 2023.

'Well, the time has come,' Sajak wrote in a statement. 'I've decided that our 41st season, which begins in September, will be my last. It's been a wonderful ride, and I'll have more to say in the coming months. Many thanks to you all. (If nothing else, it'll keep the clickbait sites busy!).'

His co-host, Vanna White responded: "When we started @WheelofFortune who could have imagined we’d still be at it 41 seasons later? I couldn’t be happier to have shared the stage with you for all these years with one more to come. Cheers to you, @patsajak!"

Ryan Seacrest was confirmed to take over as host for Season 42, one week after Sajak's news broke.
